Title: Fried Night At The Classic
Post by: cracker on March 19, 2011, 06:37:43 pm
Thought as long as we were having a night for eating stuff that swims we'd have a night for eating land based critters I'l bring my frying gear and we'll cook it up maybe on tuesday.
So far this is what I have.
1. Greg B. has offered some Squirrels
2. I'll bring some chicken.
What else ya got.

I can brine it. That will get all through the meat. It ought to crisp up nicely in the hot oil.  ;)

A turkey...

deep fried...??

DEEP FFRY a WHOLE TURKEY!!??!??!??!!???!!

Damn...  you guys take your frying SERIOUSLY over there!! :o :o :o

Reminds me of the Simpsons when Mo gets a deep fryer from some Navy ship and claims it'll deep fry a cow in 13 seconds...  Homer cries: "13 SECONDS!!??  I want it NOW!!!..."

Please...  for the pity of your Irish brother...  you've GOTTA take pic's of this deep fried turkey when it happens!!???

Hatch calm down brother there is a method to the madness when the turkey comes out of the oil it is much jucier than a baked turkey and at three and one half minutes per pound it is also much faster. We also inject the thing with marinade to kick it up a notch or five. We'll take some mouth watering pic for you're viewing pleasure.Cracker

Yall making me hungry! Terry in our club swears by boiling squirrels an hour or more prior to deep frying to make them tender. We may need several fryers going at once with all this variation of varmints gettin' fried!  :)

I love my wife...  She's brainy.

So when I tell her about this thread and about the whole "deep fryin' a turkey" thing...  she goes and searches images on Google...

I've just spent the last 15 minutes drooling on my keyboard...  ;D :D

I saw this, however and thought it'd fit in nicely here...

Hope yall don't mind seeing some eyeballs looking out at you from the deep fryer...my aunt likes squirrel brains, and those squirrel heads that didn't get a .22 bullet through them got saved along with the rest of the meat!  ;)

Just now got to a PC.....Pat, that looks strikingly similar to one my neighbor found "sleeping" under his truck one morning after I found him hunting birds on my childrens play set in my back yard. ::) Not sure what happened to that kitty. I did get my arrow back though. Everybody should have neighbors like that.

15# to 18#. They have them frozen at the grocery store. I'll buy it a day or two before and begin the thawing process so it should be good to go when we get there.  Is Sterling bringing the injection materials and substances?

Angie and I loved the food.  The fried turkey was really good, but my favorite was fried squirrel.  That was a first for me and I really liked it!  The venison was awesome, also!

It was great for sure, Thanks Ronnie for putting it together and all the others that helped just added one more of the many things I enjoy about the Classic. It's all a lot of work but like I have said before it's a labor of love and all seems worth it when you see all the folks and how they enjoy. Big thanks to all, couldn't do it without yall. Tim Miss Joanie usually means whet she says. ;) ;D ;D ;D Wouldn't be the same without your wives big smile. :) That always made my day. :)
