For Mother’s Day we spent a little time at the beach.

The apple trees are blossoming.

Went to watch my grandson play baseball. He’s a pretty good pitcher. Really enjoyed watching his team play.

And while all that was happening the rye was giving way to the sugar beets.

In another week you’ll think that this is a different field. The beets are getting to the size that they will really start growing

All the Fields around have had alot of activity the last week. Behind My House it will be Beans, Corn blocks My viewing  . Have a great weekend coming up ! I think Matt and I are going to get some Bluegills.  Bob.

Yes lots of field work the past few weeks. It’s been pretty cold here by the lake yet. Did have a couple nice days last week that even brought out the short sleeve shirts. Lots of sunburned people including myself.

Back to the cold again though. Furnace is still running. Didn’t get a white frost but it had to be close again last night.

At least you won’t be ice fishing, but the fish should be good and firm yet in the cold water

Sorry have been really busy and not able to post much lately but I have to share this.

The last time I held this arrow was the second day of gun season 2024. The time I touched it was as I let my string go on a small doe. I saw her front leg come ahead and this arrow neatly take its spot.

The last time I saw it. It was sticking out of the chest of what I was sure was a mortally wounded deer as she slowly laid down.

I looked hard for her and the arrow with nothing but more questions. What is the rest of the story.

Yesterday a friend of mine asked if she could walk my beach and look for artifacts. I said sure. She found my arrow. It was on my beach.

I was walking my beach about a month and a half ago and I found this dead deer. It had been dead for awhile. The buzzards had found it and were dragging it around the beach. I wondered could this possibly be my deer? It was the right size. But that was last November. It did get cold and stay cold after that. It was a cold spring. It’s possible it might be the right amount of decomposition. I looked at the deer again last night. It’s partially cover in dirt now and very badly decomposed. I might have to do my rendition of forensic examination.

The stone point was missing from my arrow. I think it looks like it was very recently separated from it. If I can find my point stuck in a bone or possibly in the dirt it might just answer the rest of the story. If not maybe just more questions.

It really would pappy. I’d definitely hang it on my wall.


I don’t know if I will ever know the rest of the story, but it sure is a crazy story from a crazy hunt. Glad she found my arrow. Now if I can find my stone point.

This is what’s left after the critter’s seemed to finally get bored with it.

At this point I think I’m just going to let Mother Nature do her thing and then scoop it all up and wash and sift it.

I’m thinking it might be a good job for my cousin and I in about a month

Wow not much left, might get some bones to make some handles and stuff,waste not want not I always say hope you find you point in that pile, I am sure that would make your day.

Thanks Pappy me too. I have been wrestling with the idea of if I should move her to a different place. Maybe put in a barrel and let her decompose more, but it just seems like bad karma. I think she belongs here on my beach.

Besides I have been way too busy to do anything anyway.

I started planting sugar beets April 17. I finished planting my son’s black beans a week ago today.

I think everything looks good. I have been pretty impressed with our old planter. It’s been planting our crops for over twenty years now. We keep making little changes and updates to it. I think it’s better than new.
