1 Under my belt
« on: September 28, 2020, 05:15:49 pm »
Good Lord blessed me Saturday morning, 93 lb doe, 6 yard shot. Made a pretty good shot but she still went a good ways, died on the run in the creek, all straight down hill. Osage bow, POC shafts ans 200 grain Ace head. Pretty tough track, not much blood, entry and exit holes both plugged
with fat. ??? seen that before but never both top and bottom holes blocked. I saw her in the creek at a distance and thought it was a lime stone rock, but as I got closer I thought , if that is a rock it's bleeding. ;) :) Meet my gold for the season, kill a deer with my bow, this is  39 or 40 years in a row with out going empty,Had some slim seasons but always a least 1, so the rest of the season is Gravy.  :) :)

Sharks are circling! Great work. You dont take deer with selfbow in first morning out without knowing your bidness in the stand. Lots of things must go right! When they do its still the Horn of the Hunter that must make it happen. Making a very hard thing happen and happen routinely makes a man a true master of his craft.

Well done partner.

Well done Pappy. Good thing there aren’t any piranhas in that water. ;)
That’s a very impressive string of seasons hunting with your selfbow. Hope you double it.

PS my hunting seems to be going every other year. That should mean I’m due this season. Hope so. Running out of venison.

Way to go!  Hopefully we can make meat this year!  Slowly getting organized enough to be able to get to the hunting areas! Nice doe!

Thanks , yes it was a good day. BJ not all 40 years with a self bow, the first 10 years or so was with a glass recurve or long bow, I killed my first deer with one on my self bows in 91 I think.  ;) :) Back to the woods this morning, the weather is just beautiful here in Tennessee, I can't remember when we have had such good weather for opening week, usually hot and muggy this time of year. ???

Congratulations Pappy.  That is a cool picture in the water.  I connected on a doe this morning with a longbow.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left
