Greetings from across the other, bigger, pond. We are missing out on the best hunting of the year down these ways, our red deer are just starting to kick off for the roar (you guys call it the "rut" I think), ahh well, the freezer is full of venison regardless, just a shame about not getting the annual footage of stags roaring their heads off.
Awesome to see everyone coming out of the woodwork, I don't normally participate very much in the social side of this awesome forum due to time constraints but this one is too good not to be a part of.

I have recently harvested a beaut of a kanuka tree, got 9 beautiful staves off one tree which is a record for me, also got a sapling that gave me two gooduns. These trees sure are slow growing, the "sapling" was maybe 4-5 inches at the base and 26yrs old, same age as me! the bigun went somewhere in the 55-60 age range, it can be hard to tell with thin ringed diffuse porous woods. even though they are slow growing they grow everywhere! so not too much guilt about giving the odd one the chop.

this next one is a very reflexed elderberry stave I posted earlier, before and after pics of deflexing the handle. I made a bunch of perpendicular kerf cuts in a 3.5" area of the handle then steamed for 30 mins, bent like a noodle! might be my first reflex delfex once I even up the limbs.

And last of all just for sh#ts and giggles I'm trying out my first Z splice on a set of billets I've had lying around for a while this is them after boiling and clamping. and then after a bit of a tidy up.
