After 8 coats of Tung Oil the Mocassin skins really pop out, the grain in the wood looks really good too ( hard to show it in pictures) I like the contrast of the light wood and the skins,....the Overlays are Paduk

Shelf and grip and the bow is done ;D

All right! That is a very pretty bow. Now for the money shots. I aspire to do that one day. Thanks so much for the pics and info.

Well, my friend Chris took possession of the Vine Maple before I was able to take all the pictures  :( :(

So where am I now ?

The Guava is sweating at low brace

The Red Oak is ready for the next step, Rawhide, but I'm still undecided if I wanna belly temper or not

Since those 2 bows are nealy finished I took a new stave down to start a new project

Osage

The stave has some deep side Gauges so I'll end up with a narrow bow here

Also I'll need to go down several rings on the back

Step one

In the mean time I made 6 target and 6 Hunting arrows from Tamarak shafts for my current hunting bow

I am curious where you got the Tamarack shafts from?
I looked up the growing region and it appears to be a long way from your location.

Manny, I always enjoyed seeing your work, especially your guava bows.  Glad you are back at it.

Hey Thanks,

Really, I would even want to put some more time into working on bows, but lately this new American Airgun company sent me a gun for field testing and reviewing so a lot of my time has gone into that,

also, it's Surf season on the North Shore so if waves are pumping than I need to go out  ;D ;D ;D

I should be able to get some bow work done later today.

You have been very busy lately Manny. The VM bow came out great - I'm very impressed how well you tamed that piece of wood.

Hey, thanks Gordon

That Vine maple came out real nice, looks beautiful under the Tung Oil finish it's really a visually pleasing bow.

I eventually will be able to take all the pictures, full dreaw and such because my friend need to come back so we can set upthe string with silences and nocking point, he has never shot a bow before.

Chris is a flight attendant and spends most of his time in  Cali but he should be around at some point in the next few months and so I'll be able to take all the shots  ;D ;D ;D

Raining most of the day so no bending of the Guava.

Yesterday I took the profile down quite a bit, final profile once I'm down to the last ring.

4 rings to go

and yes, I'm now hogging them off with my trusty Ferrier rasp   ;D ;D ;D ;D
