Osage Sliver - Collateral Damage
« on: April 03, 2013, 07:27:07 pm »
Wasn't sure whether to post this in:

Primitive Skills:  Because it was with great skill that I had to go in and pull this sucker out, intact and unbroken.

Around the Campfire:  Mostly because the heel of my left hand up to my elbow now feels kinda hot.  Also because when it happened I said, "Gosh Darnit to Hell".  (Language cleaned up a bit)  My hand hurts...

Bows:  Seemed kinda obvious at first since, I was peeling out an osage stave when this happened.  Peroxide hurts when Miss Heather squeezes your wound.

How To's and Build-a-longs:  Actually, how NOT to handle osage.

What Did You Do Today?  Wished anyone else would have done this one instead of me.

Life is Good:  My hand hurts...  Life stopped for a moment for me when I realized what I had done.

So, how long of a sliver have you had?  Feel free to post pics.  Kinda like on "JAWS" when Captain Quint, Sherrif Brody and Marine biologist - Matt Hooper compared their scars.

Did I mention that my hand hurts?  :'(
Oh, 1-5/8 inches inside the hand.

Good one! Had a few bad ones but a 1 1/2 under skin takes the cake on any thing I've done

Oh, didja know the oil from osage wood is an irritant and can cause inflammation and burning?  If you didn't before, you sure do now!

Getting a splinter under the nail is bad enough, no need to start it on fire, I'll reveal any secret you want!  Thnakfully I have never gotten one like that.  Thanks for taking that one for the team, buddy.

4 1/2" back when I pulled green chain, but one of the other guys ran one thru his wood, drug him out on the unit of lumber, had to cut it off on both sides to get him in the ambulance, the sliver not his johnson

To make matters worse, Wee-wicki did something spectacular.  Mommy says, "Yay Dan!"
"Clap, Honey"  She says to me, so what did I do?

Clap - Clap   "Yay Dan!"  Ooh, ouch owwwww!
Miss Heather laughed.  >:D
That hurt.  It wasn't funny.....    :(

Maybe you should stick with some of those softer white woods.

Didn't have one that big under the skin but I did have one stuck under my thumb nail all the way to the back of the nail. You talk about hurt and it didn't stop when you pulled it out either.Ron
If we can't help each other what is the point of being here?
