First Point
« on: March 03, 2012, 04:36:52 pm »
Never thought I would post anything on THIS thread, but here it is. First point. From a noviculite (sp?) flake that came with the pressure flaker I bought. 65 grains. I am ordering some better tools today.

Well Dang Bevan!!  Thats perty dadgum good for a first point!!  Heck of alot better than my first.  It looks more like keokook than novaculite though.  Knapping is just as addicting as making bows, well I guess it is.....havent made a bow yet but Im hoplessly addicted to flintknapping.  In fact I am so addicted I started this thread- http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,27729.msg369670.html#msg369670

Thanks Jimbob. As for the stone, I have no clue. Like I said it came in a 'starter' kit I got and was listed as novaculite. I do know it was easier to work that a piece of plate glass I was 'messing' with.

Very nice Bevan!   My first one was pretty hideous out of floor tile, not in your point's league.   Good work!

I see some flakes going well past center there - your on your way :). My vote would be keokuk also.
