Lucky Find!

I'm sure many of you hunt and find points, bi-faces etc,. I have often looked but never have found any until this week.
This was near Charleston WV just laying about half buried in the woods on the side of a very steep mountain. It is made from Kanawha Black, a local low quality stone that is very hard to work. I was told that archeologists have excavated large fire pits around this area with basketball size chunks of this. I suppose they were heat treating it. Anyway the base was broken but by Georgie I found me an arrowhead!

@ Hook - Come visit me in Yosemite and I can take you to some places where points are still found. Keep in mind that here we call them leaverites cuz we are in a National Park. I'll make one for you to take home though.

It sure resembles a knife blade that was resharpend many times in its life span then when it became too short replaced with another. It does not appear to be broken at all from what I can see in the picture. And it appears to be a little thick for an arrowhead. Unless it may have been used on an atlatl shaft.

No doubt about it being a broken base as Hook says "Anyway the base was broken but by Georgie I found me an arrowhead" . But, any point found is a lucky find. Found three quartz points myself in NC this past weekend. Rick B
