I was working over at John Strunks as he is my only local bow building buddy

I love how you say this like you have to settle for working with John Strunk  and having him check your tiller because there's no one else around. That made me laugh! I know that's not how you meant it but it was still funny.

Bummer Josh sorry to hear that. Makes me concerned about the cascara that I'm working on. I know I'm pushing the bend ratio already. Just can't get much better then having someone like John Strunk for a mentor

I think it can happen with any wood...  I just had a Vine Maple I made blow!!! It was probably that particular piece?

Thanks guys, I want saying I had to settle for Jon lol I'm very blessed to be able to work with him as much as I do and shoot all his bows just being in his company is a real joy for me even when my bow fails lol

I hear ya Josh, same exact thing happened to my trade bow a couple weeks ago. Started to chrysal after sanding, put a rawhide patch on it, other limb started to go as well... Will not be sending it out. Got another one started to ease the pain...

  Well the bow was delivered today, Hope it made it OK. No word yet.    Hope he posts some bow porn soon.  Stressing till i hear it made it ok.

We should have a thread going for "mail person stalkers"   A place for posting pictures of all us hopeless hopefulls watching the front porch

I'm not in the bow trade this time around, but last time I set up two treestands and a ground blind near the mailbox. 

The 5 or 6 trailcams had pretty much patterned the mailman and I knew his daily route by heart and could almost set a watch by his pattern.  After that it was just a matter of "playing the wind" and chosing the right position to wait from.

Sometimes chrysals or compression fractures occur when the tree is still living and can be caused by wind or snow loads. These don't show up right away. I've had them show up after finishing furniture.
