arrow with bone
« on: March 15, 2011, 11:38:13 am »
had these deer legs for some time. kept meaning to make some points with em. finally got a round tuit
saw somewhere on a tutorial this fella just busted the leg bone with a hammer....and used what pieces were suitable.
i took the bone to the bandsaw, sliced in half. marked it out with a pencil, then stuck in vise and took files to it till it was as i wanted. then sanded with some 220 grit to sorta polish it up, soaked it for a few hrs in that walnut ink i made a few weeks ago. then attached to shaft with pine pitch and artificial sinew. used some tbIII to coat sinew.

they were very simple to make. cut the piece out the size ya want(i used the bandsaw to slice the leg in half), mark with pencil, grab up some little files.
like those packs of 6  they sell at the hardware store-cheap and very useful-use them for LOTS of arrow(and other) making purposes.
