no glue fletcings

here's a dozen hand fletched arrows i just did. no i need to trim and put a field point. these are cedar 5/16 spined shafts.

So they are just tied down fore and aft? Don't they whistle as they fly? I would think you would want a wrapping along most of the fletch? JMO (uneducated at that).

Trimmed them up already, will post a pic after I put the field point on, just need to get some epoxy resin.

ive decided that i will use the epoxy for field points from now on with my bamboo arrows.  but your arrows look good!

nice arrows! i often use no glue, just tie fletching down. and have shot em lots. if you dampen the quill and pull em tight after tying one end. they lay flat. tho i have heard folks talk about the noise unglued fletching makes-it hasnt been my experience(or maybe im just going deaf  :)

many of the fletchings on arrows depicted in the two volumes of the "encyclopedia of native american bows, arrows and quivers" are not glued.

SJ: thanks. I also wet the quill and use pliers to pull the feather once one end is tied. The water really softens the quill, I did it on these ones and there is really no space on most of em between shaft and quill. If the fletching is large enough even with glue the arrow will make noises.
