dad's practices arrows!
« on: March 04, 2011, 01:21:17 am »
Hello everyone, these are some cane arrows that i finally got to finish for practice on my dads osage bow i made him. now the cane was cut 6 months ago and just now thought about where they were lol. i cut the arrows to 26.5 inches added an 1" foot for the nock out of red oak i had laying around. they are not spine per say but i have a home made spine tester that i made from one i got off here and they bend the same as some POC's that i had tested to 70lbs. i put a hickory hard wood tip on 5 of them and a dial rod from wally world on the sixth ran out of hickory. cutting the hickory tomorrow to the same length.turkey feathers from my dad' skill last year.i have to types of thread on the feather one is a good linen thread very resistant to abrasion and the other is dacron b-50 extra lying around. dacron for the tips as well.

out of my 45# bow they shot great but kind of sluggish. but i got to shoot his osage at about 27" becasue i can not pull it the extra 2 inches that he likes.and there was no sluggishness to them he might shoot them even faster and i hit my targets wish i had a crono because those arrows did not drop within the 20 yards i was shooting at that i can tell i almost shot too high with his bow on the first shot due to the speed it pushed them i will get pictures as soon as i can get someone to take a full dram of his bow for me. and the fletchings came from the idea like the carbons that my brother shoot only just a tad taller profile.
