Seen a post over on the Huntin and Shootin section where Beatlebailey showed a picture of his 5yr old son shooting, and said as how he like to shoot with his dad. Couldn't resist the temptation so I made a bow for him that's just like his fathers.

Here's Jacobs bow, 48" ntn, 20# @ 18" and 30# @ 23"....tillered out to 25" total draw. Elm self bow, same wraps, grip and stuff as his dad's. The finish is the same also, thinned pine tar, followed by the regular spruce pitch/grease mixture. Shoots real nice and I'll will flight shoot it tomorrow and post the results.....then got to get it in the mail. Allmost forgot....the lower limb says "dragonslayer bow" and the top limb has his name on it.

It was a blast to make, hope ya like it.

Flight shot the little bow today. Was 9 degrees, and light snow but the wind laid down to allmost nothing. The lighest arrow I could make (with available material) was 450 grains, and 3 - 5" fletch. Had 23" of draw which put it right at 30#. That put the arrow at 15 grains per pound of draw. It averaged 110 yards and had one arrow out to about 113 yards. (Too much snow to use the odometer wheel.)

That's just awesome half-eye. I bet his son will be excited to have one just like his dad.  You're quite the generous man.  Good job and Merry Christmas!

Man, I just don't know how you get those mollys so short and yet so perfect. Amazing work as always. Just to guesstimate, you probably got like 20" of working limb max, no? And still reach a 25" draw? On a selfbow?  ;D And an awesome thing to custom make for someone. He's gonna be hooked till he's 50 now.

Thanks fellas, there are a lot worse ways to spend a couple/three days. Now dad's gonna have to look over his shoulder at them 3-D shoots, eh? Not to mention them chipmunks livin in fear.

Those poor poor dragons had better watch out :'(.
Kids bows are tricky to make, nice job.

'Tis a fine thing, as always, Rich!
I'm betting it's pretty fast, too?

If it doesn't rap the lintel, it might not be a longbow.

Thank you for the kind words fellas.
Del @ It's allways amazed me the fun a youngster can have when the imagination is in high gear.
Frode @ didn't have a kids arrow to shoot but judging by the telephone pole I shot out of it. It's pretty respectable for being light and short to boot.

thanks again fellas, much appreciated.

Hey, I got this son rich,... he's about my height, pulls about the same weight as me, I draw about 28", ER, I mean, he  draws twenty eight inches, and would love a bow like that...  ;)  ;D ;D ;D
