Yew bow gift from Blacktail
« on: November 22, 2010, 11:53:58 pm »
 A little while back I came home and found a surprise at my front door. What I found inside humbled me to tears as I opened and found an incredibly beautiful yew bow with an attached note of thanks. As I looked over this beauty of a bow and realized the great time and care that John had put into this gift to me, I also realized that I had done nothing deserving of such a gift. The note spoke of his thanks, for the time that I had spent helping him tiller a few bows and also splitting up some yew logs, and he said he had heard of the rough road that Lulyn and I had been through. He thought the bow might help brighten my day. ;D ;D ;D ;D I wish he could have seen my face when I opened the tube. Thank you my good friend John, words seem to fall short.
 About the bow.   She is a yew D/R  character sapling bow 65.5" N to N and pulls in at 54# at 28"  She has bull snake skins from the handle to about mid limb and tied off with very nice thread wraps. Then the limbs are natural backed with the tips accented in matching bull snake skin and pins knocks. John's wife Nicki did a very nice handle wrap and this bow is full of character bumps as well.
 My second shot hit a bulleye and I was very pleased with the way this bow shoots. Thanks again John for such an awesome heart felt gift.

Hey Keenan, you have given so much of your time and expertise here on this site (and I am sure off the site as well), you shouldn't be surprised that someone would recognize you for it.

Blacktail, thanks for what you did for Keenan.  Goes to show that primitive archery folks are some of the best in the world!  Niiiice bow!

And lastly, Josh?  Nice candidate for BOM, huh?

 Keenan;
  Everybody would be lucky to have a good friend like John. And that bow is an excellent candidate for BOM. Very Nice, John.

 If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

John I've been watching you progress in your bowyering skills and all I can say is that you have come a long, long ways. What a beautiful piece.

Thank you for sharing Keenan, and despite your words otherwise I cannot think of anyone more deserving of such a generous expression.
