Dalton day
« on: March 22, 2010, 11:10:09 pm »
Had the day off so I spent it in the shop doin some more knappin/work! ;)

I have been trying to make a Sloan but man it is tough, so many variables to consider and I ain't got it yet. One needs so much strength to push the flakes off with these. I need an Ishi stick, but I just never had a use for one till now. My wrist and shoulders are hurting.

Anyhow the bigger point is as close as I have come yet. Started with a 8 1/2" rock and the point came out  7 1/2". Not showing the other side..  :-\  It has it's problems but I left it alone. maybe next time? ;)

Those look great, Tim. Daltons are one of my favorite point types.

Very nice. Love the flake scars.

Thanks guys, I really am fond of Daltons, not sure why, I guess we all have our favs.

The sloan types my favs but are really hard for me to get right.I keep trying and trying. Maybe one day I'll make one that I am pleased with.
