An artifacts thread.
« on: March 22, 2010, 11:13:18 pm »
Well, here are some pictures that I've taken recently.  The first 4 are of my father-in-law's stuff.  These were all found or given to him as a boy growing up in Ohio and were found on farms around the area.  The last picture of the larger collection are some things that I saw at a knap-in a couple of weeks ago.

  Stephen,

The axe heads and points in the upper photos are not big money makers. Are the points in the bottom picture from Ohio? There are some in that bottom picture that look like Hernando's. Points and artifacts from up north do not fetch the prices like some points in Florida. Due to the farming and Disc's whacking them, it takes the value way down.

The difference in a $3,000 point and the same point just worth a couple of hundred is just a nick off the blade with a shovel, in Florida.

That's what's etched in, yup.  Rick doesn't really remember being given that axe as he was so young.  Pretty cool, though. :)

Maybe the year, when the axe had been found (stolen or what else).
See a pic of original German Bronceage tip.
