Well its over for another year but I did get time  Sunday morning early to go out with Beau,Christina, Margaret Ann and Bodhi on the course for some fun, Margaret Ann had a really good time and really liked my favorite tree on the farm. The Good Lord Blessed us with great weather, only a little rain just because it always rains on the Classic and also with really good people. It was a great time, missed a few of my old friends but I understand life happens. Hope they can make it back next year our I get to see them somewhere else down the road. To make things even better the pin I lost with my hat under the bush hog was found by a friend with a metal detector,he ask where it happened and spent an hour or so looking, I was sure it was gone forever :) :) :) .Life is Good. :) :) :)

Looks fun!

based on the lost arrow tub, whoever shot carbon arrows with pink parabolic fletching either really loves shooting or needs to improve her aim ;)  I would also recommend tougher knocks . :D

Pappy,
Looks like a great time was had by everyone. Hole in the bow Chuck, Kevin and Tom all told me, they had a great time. I checked out the scores on your web page and there were some very good shooters there. Thank you for posting the pictures and your report for everyone to see and read about the happenings. I have been involved in putting together a few shoots over the years (much smaller than yours) and know the hard work and time that goes into it. To do it one time for one year is something but to do it year after year for over twenty years is remarkable. You guys should be very proud of what you built there. How did your shoot begin and how have you kept all involved in doing the work from getting burned out? Very nice job! Congratulations on a successful event.
take care,
brian

Only thing I would change is I would have stayed Sunday!  It was great.  Thanks again, Pappy and club.

Also, glad you got your pin!

Brian the Classic started 24 years ago, just wanted to have an all Traditional shoot, we had 34 shooters, the next year 60 or so.Each year it has just kept growing which is good because we could grow with it. If we had of had a crowd at the first like this one it would have been a disaster , I tell clubs that are just starting and want what we do now  [NO YOU DON'T]. We have had several over the years get burned out I guess :-\ or just move on to others hobbies, some come back later some never do. ??? I don't really understand it myself, never think about being burned out, I don't know how you can get burned out on something you love as much as I love archery. It is hard sometimes and takes a lot of my time but I don't ever think of it as work, it is just something I do and we have a few core guys that feel the same, that's what makes it work. We have a great bunch of guys and as long as we have the core to keep them on track it all seems to come together, the others guys do what they have to or supposed to and the core does what ever we it takes to to pull it off. ;) Headed back down in the morning to finish cleaning and straightening but have been in and out all week so things are in pretty good shape, may even get a little me time  :) :) :) Hope yall have a great Mother's day weekend, what a Blessing a good Mother is. :) Life is Good.  :)

Pappy, you are right about having a big group of people for sure. Most don't know what it Takes to organize and make room and even take care of the needs of that many people. It's tough to find help to.
You and twin oaks have been a blessing to the archery community!
For the past couple of years I've been out of sorts to say the least. That is as far as archery and PA, but from time to time I would still get on PA and catch up on life is good! I would normally start stressed out and by the time I finally got cought up I would be relaxed.
I guess I'm just saying thanks Pappy!
And thanks for alway taking the time to keep us posted about your place.

I ran an archery club with an indoor range for 15 years, the city owned the range so it was open to the public, we held 3D tournaments on the ball field on Saturday nights in the spring and fall.

I burned out and walked away, I did most of the work, when I called a member to help me clean up the range  I always got the same tired lie everyone uses when they don't want to do something "I don't think I will have time" so I did it myself.

The worst was John Q Public, during the height of the dipping craze they would spit on the floor of the range or fill the large garbage can full or nasty spit. This went on even after we banned tobacco in the range because a club member couldn't be there all the time.

Then there was they human filth; there was a public restroom about 75 yards away from the range but the guys would pee behind the backstop, leave cups of pee sitting around or even take a dump on a piece of cardboard and throw it in the garbage can. This is where I learned just how despicable some members of the public could be.

One Friday morning, after I doubled over from evenings to midnights, I called a member that lived across the street from the trophy shop and asked him if he would pick up the trophies for the Saturday shoot, they had to be picked up by noon on Friday. It was a 20 mile round trip for me, I had to get a few hours sleep before I went back in on evenings.

He told me "the" lie, I drove over to pick up the trophies, went home, folded up the club books and walked away. I was good at running the club, I  took it from deeply in debt, the previous officers were stealing the tournament money, to being solvent with a brand new set of McKenzie's and a huge crowd on Saturday night. Without my guidance the 45 year old club died within 2 years, no one would take the reins.

Ya Eric you can see the darnest things when you get that many people together, although I will say most do really well in helping keep the place looking good during the Classic, great people for sure.  ;) Had a great weekend. Got most things back in order and had some time for some of us to play in the shop and shooting, Pretty peaceful. :) Few pictures. Had this cook ware gifted to me at the Classic, just needs a little cleaning up and then out by the fire it goes. Also had a good friend [lady] talk me into making her a bow at the Classic, don't make many for other people and really none to sell but I agreed for her, her and her husband are special long time friends. I had a piece of Osage cut in 2002, very nice stave so I got started on it.Wound up getting it to brace and on the form for some early tweaking. Looking for 30@25 so lots of wood to work with at this point. :)

Allen and Brandon came by, Allen to work on his Osage and Brandon to start a couple of Hickory bows for his 2 nephews.  :) 1 is 8 and the other is 12 years old. They both made some head way on their projects. :) Also my Buck eye trees are doing well and should be able to put them in the ground soon.  :)

The guy that found my pin also found this old horse shoe , no telling how long it had been there, so I put it up, although I don't really believe in Luck I figured it couldn't hurt. ;) :) :) :) Don dropped by and had some leather stuff he was selling for a friend that lost her husband and clearing out his stuff so I bought some items I thought I may use, I don't really do leather work but who knows someday I might. That's what I need is another hobby. ??? :-\
