New Ipe Bow
« on: June 12, 2009, 10:50:19 pm »
Here are few pics of my new Bamboo backed Ipe bow.  Hope you like them.  This bow is 59" NTN, limbs are 1 1/8" down to 3/8" tips, pulls 50 lb at 28".

And of course here is one of my shooting partner yesterday evening.

This was my first BBI and I really like Ipe....it is some tough wood.

Thanks.

The little guy is my grandson Cooper he will be 3 this month.

I was surprised how little ipe it takes to make a decent draw weight bow.

I have a IPE/Boo bow in the works myself.  It didn't turn out as purdy as yours.  And I am having to add some wraps on the nodes.  I plan on making my next one with a rounded belly like yours.

Ipe, like osage, lends itself to short boo backed bows...and you are right, it doesn't take much ipe to make a good bow.
Nice bow. You opened those limbs up nicely at full draw.

What a BAD grandfather you are: let the poor little boy shoot this ugly plastic compound-look-alike while you yourself shoot this really nice BBI!  ;D ;D ;D

Just kidding: great bow!
Another full draw pic would be nice, thisone is with your bowarm angled and makes the upper limb look sorta stiff!

Really nice job! Fit and finish looks top shelf.  I guess I need to get me some of that ipe stuff and see what all the rage is about? ;)

Cooper is shooting his "back up" bow in that pic, he had to take his real bow home with him.
Here is a pic of him shooting his real bow.
