Thanks for the comments.  This one turned out to be a good shooter.  The deflex/reflex limbs give it early draw weight, with a smooth draw.  At full draw it doesn't' feel like 50lb.  It will take me a little getting used to.....still shooting high with it from beyond 20yds.

I am new at building self bows, I have cut some staves from my land and figure they will be good enough to make mistakes on. What I do not know is what is an IPE bow. I know I will take a few hits for this.

very nice! this looks almost exactly like the hickory backed osage i just finished up. same unbraced profile, same handle shape, almost the same full draw, only mine is 63" ntn. see, great minds do think alike!

i know what you mean about shooting high, ive been shooting from 30 yards (i usually only shoot from 20) and it hits almost exactly where im holding. the arrow only starts to drop after 35 to 40 yards, and even then its only a little. im not saying i would take a shot at a deer at that distance, but it makes thoes 15 - 20 yard shots feel like a chip shot!

i really do love these r/d bows, deffinately my favorite!
