Easter osage!!
« on: April 12, 2009, 03:34:45 pm »
Haven't been making much lately because of some wrist problems. >:(  Friend offered a couple osage growing in a wet area.  I had told him that they are apt to have thicker rings there!!

Thought I would give my wrists a good test!!!

We cut them and got them split and they have the thickest rings that I have come across around here!!

Think I'm ready to try making some fresh saw dust and scrapings in the shop!! ;)

Wrist problems? It is not Kienbocks disease is it?

Osagetree, Had not heard of Kienbocks disease before.  Read a little about it just now.

I have overused them with work for the past ....almost 40 years.  And a project in my house a couple months ago really made them hurt.

Really think they are getting worn out.... but they have been feeling a lot better and really want to keep making some bows if I can keep from doing them damage.

Timo,  the wood is very bright except for that black streak in the center if the one.  The ends are dark because of a combo of glue and mud!! ;)
