Here's something I've been working on. I had a fellow from the leatherwall approach me about making him a Deerslayer type recurve. This is my first attempt at such a bow and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Its not a exact replica since I really had nothing to go on other than some pictures I found on the Internet, I will make a few changes on the next one, but this one shoots real nice. Its 64" ntn Hickory backed black locust core with a heat tempered hop hornbeam belly. 55#@28" Some may think this is a odd combination of woods, but it is what I had on hand. I still need to add some tip over lays of locust and finish shaping the tips and brush nocks. I'm going to add a built up shelf out of leather as was done on the originals and cover it with a leather grip once the finish is applied.

Sweet looking bow Ryan. Looking forward to braced and full draw pics. I love the looks and effectiveness of the brush nocks. I've been meaning to try them.  Chris Cade does a beautiful job with them.

Nice looking job Ryan! I'd think just a nice set of skins on the back and finish? Hard to get a good dye job on hickory, as far as blending in colors. The wood combos will give it a nice contast I would think.
