Hence the name of the onion itself is Vidalia. The ones grown around here are sweet enough to eat like a piece of fruit.Ron

I like me some Vidalia onions. And yep, they're originally from Ga. Went through the town of Vidalia, Georgia last year-I think they have a big Vidalia onion festival there, would be about worth the drive from here. :) And Dana, what is a lutefisk? Is it contagious? ;D I'll try to bring some more ramps this year, too, since we're into regional cuisine. :)

Steve lutefisk is something you don't want to experience :P Cod that has been treated with lye to preservre it, also called soapfish.

Lots of leeks up here also but end of April is too early to get any

Yeah, Trane has a plant in Vidalia, Ga. I think the area also has a healthy population of fire ants if I recall...

Actually a true Vidallia onion only grows in a small area around Vidallia. Lots of copy cats grow elsewhere. Texas also has a good variety of sweet onions...but they ain't Vidallias.
Take a Vidallia onion and cut it in quarters but not all the way through. Fill the inside with cheddar cheese, cover with a strip of bacon, add a bit of salt and black pepper and rosemary, wrap in foil and bake in a 350 over for 30 minutes. It is so good it will make you slap your grandma! ;D

Pat, sounds like you and Cracker need to get together during the Classic and combine resources...we'll round all the grandma's up, say one at each table.  ;D

I always heard it said [Slap your Pappy]now we don't want that for sure, may need to rethink the Onions.  ;) ;D ;D I don't think we are going to have worry about food.We may not be Castiron but we can all cook. :) King Ron has decreed it,food won't be a problem.  :) ;D Still sending out flyers and answering emails every day so it looks like even tho times are hard for some they want to get away and just forget there problems for a while , I can't think of a better  place to do it. :)
