Pucker time.
« on: January 03, 2009, 08:30:55 pm »
Sometimes you just have to quit.I left that last little flat spot. I couldn't bring myself to break those ears and anyway you won't see it on an arrow. It is still one inch wide and the ears are sharp, it's legal.
The other two are for Bob Ocseola for turkey season , still have some more to go. The Tanto was a pi$$*^. I was grinding the Bamboo handle to shape when my 12" sander snatched it out of my hand and bounced it off the roof of my shop. It didn't break then, and I almost caught it but it hit the leg on my Band saw. :'( :'(

I'll post another knife I made today and two more points tomorrow.

I wonder of the Split garden Hose would work on Flint Blades.....Sure has saved me with the Stainless Steel Blades I have been making....might want to give it a try....I just split it and tape it on....I have tried just Duct Tape....and still got cut....thats why I tried the Hose

Oh, how well I know the feeling.  I had a very nice point going on a piece of agate, that was in the bucket, and as I looked at it, I saw that , well hell, I can get two points out of this if I just notch it right here, and ......everything was going great, and it broke above the notch!  Well, I have one small point, and one medium point.  If I hadn't tried to get two points, I would have had a great point, about 2 1/2-3 inches long.  Oh poopee! >:(  I was trying to make the finished point that I made out of the soft white stuff, just a little bit lies triangular, and it was going great, and ...... then I noticed that one of the nice and sharp ears wasn't there! >:(  Oh well.  Now, I will leave well enough alone, and I will not try to get two points, in stead of one nice one.  I wil wait till I am somewhat better than I am now. ;D  At least you were able to salvage a point out of it.

Here's the save on the broken one. And since Jesse was asking about fluting, I went ahead and fluted both sides with a pressure flaker.
