I've worked on getting these Honey Locust billets ready for splicing. I'm doing the same design on this Honey Locust as I am for my Juniper bow. If the Juniper doesn't make it this is my back up. It is also providing practice so I have better know how when I do the same thing for the juniper.
I've discovered it's much harder getting a good fit than I would have thought. As you can see I'm not the most precise with the band saw, but after some boiling and clamping they came together pretty good. There's no light coming through on the inner splices on the side but there's a little showing at the tips. It's such a small gap I'm having a hard time figuring out what to put in there as a shim. Since its the tips do I even have to worry about that? I plan on gluing them together tomorrow with system three's T88. Any word of advice before I do?
