Folks, im making slow progress,  but progress none the less. I have one layer of sinew on one of my 45 inch ttt bows and will be putting a second course soon. This one is 64#@26 but after sinew I plan to pull it to 28. It would be nice if it holds! I hope to put in a little reflex to it to add some string tension to increase arrow speed.

Pat.......You bet gotta love a good piece of hickory.It should hold up fine for ya.Looks pretty good.Gonna be a snappy shooter.
sleek....That's gonna be quite a bow for ya too.Are you going to reverse string it some while curing?It should put a lot of reflex midlimb I would say.

sleek, try my smooth sinew method at the top of the page. That will tighten everything up and eliminate your gaps.

PatM's method is definitely worth using. I tried it on my ERC bow. The sinew turned out very smooth with no gaps. Atleast until it dried on the quick side and a few spots pulled away from each other like a drying check. But it's still a smooth back regardless of the gaps that opened. There were no high spots that needed sanding.

I flipped the tips last night and heat treated the black locust bendy handle. I havnt put a string on it yet but have bent it against my leg. It feels like it might have gained a good 15-20 pounds between the two. It was pulling 60# at 17" when I heat treated. I'm only expecting about 10" to hit my weight this time. We'll see in a day or two.
