Matt, Thanks! I made sure to try it on a practice piece to get a feel for it. Wasn't too bad.

Lyle, Thank you! I'm going to try and make it this year.

Chrishawk, I decided to go with hickory for the overlay so the stain would blend into them. It shoots great and is indeed smooth. I could actually get the tips slightly narrower but I don't want to scare my recipient.  ;D

Chrisdrums, Theres always room to go a little more narrow.  ;)

Thanks Sadiejane!

bushboy, Thank you! I think this profile has a lot of potential. I think I got away with a more circular tiller which really makes sure the tips are working even as narrow as they are.

Heres where I am with mine, working two and my victim will will the better one when they are done. First is a black locust 63" with a
mild natural r/d profile in a scalloped bow design. This one is just barely starting to bend on the floor, needs more wood removed before it goes to the long string.
Second is a 58" buckthorn with a natural wonky bend at one tip that has a concave back starting about 3" below that tip and running
toward the handle for another 12". Got this one moving on the long string and braced it at 3" and felt about 15# over weight. More wood will be delicately removed then on to the short string.
Having fun with this and hoping to get a nice bow for my victim out of these two. Still have a ways to go.
Greg

Greg, I think buckthorn is starting to look really good in the bow making world!

Dang Hunterbob! A sinewed bow that fast must be some kind of a record! Way to go!

Chris, The kink on the left side near the lower fade would make a great point for the arrowpass.

That sucka' is bending Bob. Nice tiller on a shorty stiff grip.

Hawkey poo that is a sissy stave and not nearly knot riddled enough to hassle with.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.
