Title: 2 piece TD (Pic Heavy)
Post by: bow101 on November 23, 2015, 07:55:23 pm
This has been on my to do list for the last two years.  I like the idea of keeping prying eyes away from a loose bow laying in the car, take it down and throw 'er in the trunk or under the seat . :)
All maple 65" @ 41# FG handle.   Shot 150 arrows thru it.  It was a challenge spent over 50 hours on it.

Thanks the biggest challenge was laying the glass, the first handle broke becasue it was to thin and I used the rest of my G2 took forever to cure.  So I picked up some Auto resin quick dry.  It took a while to figure out a jig for mating the 2 limbs together for the handle build.   Once I got that it was easy peasy.  :)

Take downs are handy for sure.Stick em in the quiver with your arrows.Nice job and contrast of colors.I imagine the fiberglass is lighter than the brass sleeve I used.

Very nice. I might have to pick your brain one day, I am hoping to make a takedown like that.

That's a nice one, just one question, what did you use to prevent the resin from gluing the detachable linb?

I used Vaseline.  If you can get your hands on the PA magazine dated April/May 2013 there are 2 builds on these type of bows.  One write up is by Marc St. Louis and another by Eddie McCann.  They are great step by step builds.

Nice takedown . Arvin

Your take down is no ugly duckling thats for sure. I like that box,  what wood did you use to build it.

bow101 thanks for showing the simplicity in making a 2 piece takedown--everyone should try making at least one! I really like the color contrast in the riser, nice job.

I like everything except the step down in the back as well. Better to leave the backing intact right up into the joint.
