Hi, I am looking for a way to cut as close as possible or sand tapers in 1x2 board bows as fast as possible considering i would also not like to spend to much on a setup.
Does anyone have an ideas or plans about good ways to pretaper limbs of dimension lumber ?
Thanks

Make a lam grinder or a table saw rig
-
I have tried to make a table saw one and it's been a struggle, is there a commerical made jig you can buy ?
-
I just draw my taper on the edge of the board and run it though the table saw fee hand then clean it up with a rasp. I plan on making a table saw jig. It will run in the groove and the board will camp against a pre tapered block.

Why in such a hurry to mass produce noob?

The fun is in the journey noobie, enjoy the ride ;)

If anyone has an plans as requested that would be great. Thanks everyone. I am looking at building one these sander thicknessers ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzd34fH8frQ) for the lams anyways but not sure if it is the best option for the 1x2 into tapered limbs.
This is my journey ! It might not be the one you take or the one you suggest, that's why we all have our own journeys. i was just hoping for some help with specific needs, to taper board bows with the best DIY jig.

Have a template then Use a hand plane and finish with a disk sander or belt sander.

I am trying to avoid hand planning and instead looking for something more like the thickness sander thing i posted above, will cut out the rough tapers on a bandsaw, just wondering if there is a better solution for lumber bows as those plans seem to be more about lams and thinner cores.
What kind of table saw setups do people have ?

Call Rudder Bows. They pump out boards all day. They may divulge a secret to mass production.

How long have you been building bows? I would suggest a taper sled with a bandsaw then put then on a horizontal taper sled through a drum sander. Are you trying to build them for yourself?

What kind of bow are we talking about, if it's a pyramid check out my build a long, easy board bow in the how to section, i use a tablesaw in it

CNC machine ftw.

CNC machine ftw.
Pat - Agh ya, no access to a CNC machine, and not worth it for the scale of the project I have in mind. I could see someday but not now, just looking for the best DIY jig or machine build that isn't to expensive or time consuming to build to be able to do the rough tapers in board bows, then i will fine tiller with just scraper.
missilemaster I have been making self bows for about 14 years, but still consider myself a noob as i have just stuck to one style of bow and one wood. how about you ?

Hi, these are typical american flatbows of hickory or yew backed with bamboo.

Noob as far as misslemaster he's one of the top builders here, with the number of posts you have made and questions you have asked pluss your user name ypu can probably see why he asked and why you have gotten some of the responses you have, that said glad to have you here

I downloaded those plans from that YouTube link a while ago, seems like an enexpensive thickness sander to me
-
totally understand ! As i said i am a total noob i can sure make a mean english selfbow of yew wood, just hand me a draw knife and a rasp and come see me in a couple of days, but i am trying to build up some tools to make some board bows. Nice to meet you too thanks for the welcome !

I havent built near the amount of lam bows as some of the guys on here so I'm still learning too. I use an aluminum taper block fed through a drum sander. I just rip it close to what I want on a bandsaw and do the rest in the sander. Welcome aboard. :)

Are you aiming for quantity or quality? Sounds like you want to mass produce wooden bows.
