Beautiful! Very nice all around! Tiller is beautiful.
-
The tiller, the profile, and the grip are almost boring in their plainness. I'm in love! There is just something about a ridiculously plain bow that is spot-on perfectly executed. I bet she's a joy to shoot! Thanks for sharing this killer bow with us, Simon!
-
Is that the natural color of swamp oak? It looks beautiful, as does the elm, your tiller, braced profile, front profile handle/fade transition, everything about it. Love it.
-
gorgeous you did an excellent job, finish, tiller, profile, tips and handle perfectly done
-
That bow looks beautiful. I can't wait to try Elm myself.
-
Yup, that's how I like 'em, clean simple great tiller, decent poundage at a good length draw.
That's should stop anything in it's tracks.

Very nice all around Simson, I think its been said before but I'll repeat that your bows are seemingly flawless. Love the long graceful fades also. :)

Thats a beautiful bow simson! Reminds me a lot of a howard hill bow.
-

Nice work on that piece of Elm. Great whitewood bow.

That's a beauty, eh? I love the look of those long fades too. The whole package is beautiful in it's simplicity.
Another masterpiece Simson!
-
Great bow in everey way!
-
Beautiful bow. I like the extra long fades and the inlay. How wide is it at the fades and tips?
-
Very nice bow. You did an excellent job on that one

Yes Carson, this is the natural colour. The wood fell in the swamp long time ago and got the colour and the smell of peat
-
Thank you all for the nice compliments.
I have learned a lot from you all.

Very nice work. I like the classic, simple, yet well-executed design, tiller, and finish of this bow.
-
Nice bow! Nicely tillered. I really like the arrow pass... unique in shape and material. Tip overlays look great too. Well done, all around!
-
The grain on Elm sure looks mighty close to Maple, texture and density. I have to get meee some of that Elm.
-
Another very nice bow simson.Did'nt exactly read everything everbody said to ya but I think that bow has a sudbury type look. That elm does pull smooth that's for sure.
-
That's a great looking bow... but that arrow caught my eye, could you tell me about the fletching?
-

Ryoon, please excuse the late answer - but here it is:
(measured in millimeters, this inches are a horror for me!)
w/d
at handle: 22/45
at fadeout: 41/17 (7" from handle)
at midlimb: 38/15
at tip: 12/15

Fletching are two full length turkey feathers (dyed dark blue and black) inbetween are two strips of white rabbit fur. All is glued on and wrappings at end and beginning. Shaft is bamboo, click on nock with horn insert.

Now THAT is a bow! I really like your bows, it's impressive you get so little set with your designs. I guess you know what your doing lol O:)
-
I keep coming back to this one. Somehow "simple" is much more elegant. I LOVE this bow.
-
Looking good ;) really putting out some bows there
-
Very nice! You are turning out some fine bows. What species of elm is that? I have tried a couple out of winged elm that have turned out good. Elm seems to work well in any design.
-
hrhodes: this is ulmus glabra, I also had good results with ulmus minor. Sorry for the latin names, not shure in the english names. I'm with you: several different design work well with elm.

Okay, thanks. I think that it's commonly called wych elm and it sure makes a good bow from what I have seen posted from other European bowyers. Yours sure looks like a good shooter to me. I don't think we have that particular species in the states, but I may be wrong. I have never been let down by any of the elm species that I have tried.
