Anyone know what bird this belongs to? It floated down on my front yard while I wad working on a project on my porch. There wasn't a bird in sight.
-
Another pic.

Looks like a Canada Goose to me. But it could be anything.
-
yea thats what i was thinking but i wasnt sure because there wasnt any birds around ANYWHERE around and it was just strange how it just gently floated down and landed like 5 ft from me in my front yard. I do have some Canandian geese that stop here a couple days out of the week every year though.
-
Now all i need to do is figure out what i can do with it. I know before i do anything im gonna carve an exact replica of it outta either red cedar or spare black walnut that i have laying around.
-
If it fell out of a goose high in the air it may have drifted a few miles or so.
-
Yea thats what i was think as well badger. i love seen those geese they are beautiful birds on the other hand i love hunting them as well and boy do they taste good! We have a short season for them here in virginia.

yah i think it is aswell, i found one snapped in half on the lake out side my house, when i went to look at my boat

I would agree with the Canada Goose, theory. Yep, use it on an arrow. Or you could slice the thick part of the quill on a diagonal and fold the point up into the quill body, and wrap it, and run a thread, or sinew thong through the loop of the quill, and attach it to your quiver, either on the bottom, the middle, or top part. Good Medicine there! ;) 8) How do you cook those geese? Everyone I hear talking about them, it is like eating a tennis shoe! I have plenty of Canada geese in Montana. Some say they just eat the breast meat, and pound the snot out of it, before cooking it. I would hate to throw the legs away. I like the thighs, and drum sticks best anyway. I have Friends who used to hunt ducks, and just pop out the breast, and toss the rest. I hate that! >:( Anywho, that is pretty cool that it just floated to you. What part of VA are you in? Are you in a fly way?

Buddy up in Smithers makes goose burger - tastes great on the grill.

My Dad bakes goose like a turkey in the oven... Secret spices all over it...and butter too. It's a red meat. Tastes great.
