Here's my new huntin buddies. 60" ntn 58# @ 28" bbo recurved w/copperhead skins, bubinga lam and handle, wb tips a mess of arrows and a bunch of points made for me by SawFiler.
This one started out with 5 1/2" of reflex, unfortunately I lost 2" of that, unstrung right after brace it's at 3 1/2" of reflex. 1 1/2" wide tapering down to 3/8" at the nocks. Shoots real nice and its pretty quick, probably the nicest bow I've made. Should be, started it back in 06'. What can I say, I'm slow !! Scott

I believe that is one of the nicest bows I have ever laid eyes on. You certainly haven't lost your touch. Steve
-
man 'o' man that is one beautiful bow! you may be slow ,but you sure got the job done!
-
Beautiful bow, very well done in all aspects. :) Sweet.
Pappy
-
That is absolutely beautiful. One of the best I've seen, not to mention those arrows. Outstanding work, it may have taken a long time but it was worth it.
-
Simply Marvelousssssss Eh ;D
-
woooooww ,
that is real eye-candy

"beautiful" just doesn't cover it... But as I'm lost for words, it'll have to do!
Gorgeous grip-work too... I've a few pairs of boots with that type of plaiting around the edges. If you make another grip like that, you've GOTTA do a build-along for it!! Please??
What kind of leather is it?
***EDIT***
Knew I forgot something... is that the new term for 2 dozen arrows....? "...a mess of arrows..." ;D
Long may they last you and may they fill your freezer (and bellies) for years to come!
-
Just goes to show what patience can achieve. Beautiful all around.
-
Beautiful bow! Definitely one to be proud of! ;)
-
Very NICE !!
-
Man that's a beauty! Great job.
-
well then, I guess i should stop making bows and just look at this one for the rest of my life ;) Very nice bow, job well done!
-
That is a great looking bow. Im particularly glad you took so long to build it. I think it is important that the new guys know we don't just whip one like that out in a couple of hours. Patience is still the bowyers best tool. ;)

i second that notion, i am still drooling over the handle. I love the leather work. Most excellent job sir. Ty
-
Ditto Everyone Elses' Praise. Quite the workmanship in that handle braiding. This is a serious contender for April Laminate Bow of the Month.
-
Brilliant bow Oneeye. Hope you don't mind but your first photo is now my desktop background on my laptop! ;D
-
Very nice. Really like the handle on this one. :)
-
Sweet! Mighty fine looking bow.
-
That is beautiful; bow as well as arrows!
REALLY like the shape of the bow, but also all the details!
Handle looks especially great; how about a build-along next time???
-
What can I say - just a great bow
-
Thanks everyone for all the nice comments. It's definately a real shooter. I've been lookin at it for a long time and am glad it's finally off the to do rack! :)
The grips not to hard to do. The leather I believe is a thinner stone tanned cowhide (it has an antique worn look to it, but smooth), all I did was soak it in warm water, shaped and wrapped it around the handle tightly then wrapped that with my bowstringer and let it dry. The bonus was it left the cord imprint in the leather.
So do you want a build along on the grip or the whole bow? Scott
-
Well since you ask... ;D
Both would be excellent but the braiding on the grip is a must-see!!!
-
Man O Man! That's beyond impressive. Thanks a lot for making the rest of us feel like hacks :)
Love Sawfiler's arrows too! Just awesome.
-
Now your embarassing me stickhead.
I was amazed with the points SawFiler made when I got them and everyone who see's them thinks they were made by a machine, everyone one of them is just perfectly indentical. He just did a super job on them. Hopefully some nice bull elk will get to see one of those up close this year. Scott
-
Damn! You know how you are walking down the sidewalk and some pretty young thang walks by with curves that just stops you in your tracks.... well, I just got stopped dead in my tracks. If my wife had been with me, I'd have gotten slapped. That is one eye popping beauty!!! And those arrows could stand on their own!!! Like I said... Damn!!!
-
:) :) :) :) :) :) :)
-
that is a very nice weapon you made there. :)
-
That set would look perfect on the cover of a magazine!
Absolutely awesome job Scott! Those skins turned out great too.
-
You did that all, with one eye? Well, I just gotta say; amen brother, because that bow and set of arrows is so beautiful that it's a religious experience.
-
Man that is one nice looking bow. Great job on the handle. I wouldnt know where to begin on that kind of leather work. Also that is an impressive amount of reflex :o
-
Yes to the build alongs, both would be great.

That bow is absolutely beautiful ! I do have one critique though..... could you please take a better full draw picture ! One with the bow square to the camera. ;D I like everything about that bow.
-
I have to agree with Ryan on this one. Very excellent, well done bow, but that full draw pic makes that bottom limb look a bit loose to my old eyes.
Grip work is fantastic! ;)
-
wow, that is just a bucket of awesome. I think I know what I'm voting for for BOM. =)
-
Ryano, there's a new full draw posted, and honestly any critique is welcome. It'll just make the next one that much better. ;D
Timo, what is loose?
-
My God
I believe the next BOM JUST MIGHT be yours.
I can't say anything else that hasn't already been said!
The stitching on that grip is flippin great. I AM so impressed!
I know I've said it more than once here.....but....There is more inspiration on PA than anywhere else on the web!!
For those of us that are still learning,
Thanks for posting...
Ron

Timo, what is loose?
Oneeye, The bottom limb in the first full draw pic looked weak to me,(bending more) throwing the tiller off in my eye. I call it loose.
The second pic shows excellent tiller. Nice job and thanks for posting the second pic. ;)
-
I cant see any pictures just brackets :(
-
Oneeye, thats a very nice bow, like everything about it, I think what Ryano and Timo are seeing is a ful draw pic with you holding and drawing the bow, its not on the same line or pressure point as it is when drawing it from the center on your tillering jig. Maybe I'm all wrong but I see it all the time. Your attention to detail is top notch.
Sure like that bow Timo ;)

Hi Scott,
Your bow is a work of art - love the snakeskin, and the leatherwork on the handle is magnificent. Sawfiler, your flint knapping is outstanding. You guys are an inspiration to all. Mike
-
Absolutely INCREDIBLE!! I can't say anything that hasn't been said, but I second it all! Congratulations! :)
-
Everyone, thanks again for the all the great feedback, never thought a leather grip would be that big of deal. I was just looking for a way to finish up the edges on the leather. Soon as I do another one I'll post a how to.
Shannon, thanks for the tips on the skins, don't know if I could've let those ones go. Thats the first copperhead skins I've worked with, they seemed thinner than rattlesnake and I had to be real careful not to sand through them on the edges.
JD, so shouldn't moving up on the string and inch put less pressure on the bottom limb? Scott
-
What a beautiful bow man! The grip, tiller, skins, all look excellent! :)
To answer the question about moving up the string it would actually give you more leverage which will make the bottom limb bend more than the top, kinda like using the string as a lever... The longer the lever the more you can lift with less energy used which would cause the bottom limb to bend more in my opinion... :) Same theory as is piking a limb, i.e. making it shorter will give you a stiffer limb.
-
One of the nicest bows I've seen in a long time. And those arrows are to die for.
-
Hey oneeye, don't know if anyone has asked yet, but are you going to the Classic by chance? if so, you should bring that bow and some of those arrows. I'd love to get a close look at that thang.
-
StevenT, wish I was goin down there but its just not in the cards this year :'( , just to far from Idaho and can't take that much time off.
I will be down at the flight shoots this year. Anyone have a good source of linen for strings the stuff I got from pyro seems to break on me cost me a nice bow last time. :o Scott
-
Beautiful! Absolutely fabulous!
-
Oneeye, its not all about where you place your fingers on the string but it does make a difference, hand placement is very critical, if you grip the bow your actually not putting the pressure on one spot but on the whole area, also if you heal the bow it will cause more pressure on the lower limb, is that clear as mud :) my grip style is very unorthodox as I always place my left pinky tucked under against the handle so I won't heal the bow and most always put the pressure right at the thumb index finger, just a tad above center. again your crafting skills are highly desirable, nice to see that.

Honestly I don't see very much headroom for that! 8) 8) 8)

Drop dead gorgeous! That bow is absolutely stunning. Really, it's flawless perfection. What a fantastic piece of art! You won't even have to shoot deer and ruin those beautiful arrows. They'll simply be mezmorized with that setup and fall over dead! ;D
-
oneeye, I meant no disrespect for your great example of crafting the bow, your skills are well liked.

JD, absolutely none taken, You make gorgeous bows and I would like to thankyou personally for hosting your bow page a few years back. The bbo buildalong brought my bowmaking to a new level. ;D Is that still somewhere on the net? I've looked recently and couldn't find it. Thanks again, Scott
-
that is lovely - well done and thanks for sharing it with us
-
wow- beautiful job on the skins and handle!
-
WOW !!! That is just awsome.
-
nice work. Beautifull arrows and I like the leatherwork on the handle, how did you do it???
-
Thanks again for the nice comments.
I will post a how to on the handle when I do another one which will be very soon. ;D Scott
-
I can only echo what has already been said -- Top Grade Craftsmanship tip to tip !!! This bow truly defines "Custom".
-
just plain WOW!!!!!!!!!
-
That one sure is sexy. Did an awesome job and I bet she'll fling some arrows.
