I had a bit of luck Saturday afternoon and was able to harvest an 80 lb. doe field dressed. Jesse (Leaping Bare) was hunting with me Saturday afternoon, and was gracious enough to divert this doe my direction by slightly shooting over her back!
This was the first deer I'd taken with this particular hhb bow, but the coolest part was the cane arrow I was using. My first deer with a cane arrow. I had cut these cane off the banks of a local river here in Clarksville, and with advice from folks here on PA was able to get them shooting well out of my bow. These cane arrows are tipped with Magna heads...maybe eventually I'll try flint.
The shot was around 16 yards, while hunting the food plot behind my house. The first three pic's are from Saturday morning from the stand I was hunting on a friend's farm (Keith). I saw three deer that morning, but the nearest was around 100 yards away...slightly out of my range.
