apparently cane is tough
« on: July 13, 2008, 11:21:15 am »
this is the number one reason i dont like shooting more than one arrow at a time. not that i am normally such a great shot, but its just my dumb luck.  i had just finished up these cane arrows and was taking them out for their "first flight" and first shot...into the target, second shot....right up the knock.
now thankfully i wrap the knocks all the way to the fletchings so it only split about 1  1\2 down after being railed from my 60# elm recurve. i thought it fared the storm pretty well.  i cut a hard wood plug to fit inside the cane and glued it up good and when it dries i'll cut a new knock and try it  again.- Ryan

Can you do that again? Would the third shot have been a double robinhood? Has that even been done?
Good shooting and shows how much the binding keeps things together.

Excellent shot! We've busted several wooden shaft nocks, but NONE of them get reused for anything other than garden stakes- cane's made for accurate shooting ;).

you know i thought about hangin them on the wall, but i figured it would serve me better to just reuse the arrows instead....i got enough stuff on the wall.

Cool shot man.  I saw a neat show last night on the History Channel about extreme marksman.  Byron Ferguson did the archery portion. He clipped the fletching off the first arrow twice before driving it into the target with a direct hit.  You did it in one shot.  You are the arrow.   :o

Good but expensive shooting, Ryan.  Any other material would be only junk now.  ;)    I used to bust nocks when I used store bought nock for arrows. I have only split one self nock(reinforced) in the last 4 or 5 years. Never a Robin Hood. I guess my self nock arrows have a force field around them. ;D      Pat
