James Parker's Bamboo Laminate Bows are June's Choice
« on: July 05, 2008, 12:28:41 pm »
Congratulations to James Parker of Creston, North Carolina
His Use of Bamboo for Both Back and Belly Make for a Great Laminate Bow
From James (robustus):
Natural Bamboo Backing and Carbonized (heat-treated) Bamboo Belly
Six Lams of Osage and Brazilian Cherry...Riser of Cypress
56#@28"         66" overall length
The pattern is just leather dye and depends on how you apply it, I have several techniques that I use, I would have to show you.the
speckle is put on with a mouth atomizer . I use many different woods, most bamboo bows I make I use 4 to 7 lams I also use two
separate tapers, I build them like I would a fiberglass bow the more the lams the more stable bow you will have .
Here is some typical praise for this bow:
That is real nice James, pretty ,too. Those bows look real good too. Which one is mine? -mullet
Very nice bows James....you are a real craftsman, your attention to detail is top notch!  -Ryano
WOW I am stunned those are drop dead gorgeaus  I love everything about those bows. the tips are really cool and the nodes on
the belly are awsome -david w.
Those look like REALLY fast bows to me. and beautiful, too!
more details of the dye/finish work - a tutorial even - would be great! -frank

Way to go James.  Excellent bows that's for sure.  I am amazed that the woman in the picture can pull that 56# bow back so easily.  She must lift weights  :)
