Wow. What an absolute GEM of a bow! How much set returns after unstrung?

I had to 25 to check weight . It won’t go to 25 again till it competes.  The brace shows its limbs are even. I think it was at 32oz. It’s on page five I think. If I would have took it to 28” draw I think it would end up about 28oz

Thanks Arvin, I wasn’t sure if that was the finished weight or not.

Expected quality bow from Arvin!  Very nice.  Hopefully I can get there this year to see it compete!

lovely looking bow and some great information in this thread.

Just started my first BL bow today, its a little narrower than yours at 2 3/16" and 69" overall. How uch heat did you give the belly, was it just to conform it to the caul or was it a heavier heat treatment? Im hearing mixed answers about how much cooking it needs

I use a heat gun to straighten and fit it to my caul. About 350 degrees for the wood to conform. I did not really heat treat the limbs per say. I repeat the process several times to get the bow where I want it. After I reach my desired weight I heat the en limbs once more and let the bow limbs float to where they want to. This usually gets the limbs to come I. Line so there is very little vibration if you follow the grain from the beginning. This black locust bow has been a joy to work.
