I carved another oak shooting line bow stand

Just finished up a shooting line bow stand/rest for somebody and though I'd post it, I haven't been able to do much lately but I am now able to get into a few creative projects.
The rest/stand is made from oak and beech with ox horn for the dowelling, I used rabbit skin glue for the construction. Just put the last coat of oil on and waiting for it to dry before it clips together. I used walnut crystals for the staining.

Thanks very much Pat and Bjrogg,
 It's nice to get something done, I just checked in on it and spotted some small dull patches, the European beech is very thirsty wood and drinks up the oil but it has taken on a lovely golden richness. I was hoping to clip it all together and take pics but instead I'll have to put on another final coat in the morning light.

I'm just starting another for a friend at the club, he's a Veteran and wants a bow stand incorporating his regimental symbols, I'm looking forward to getting a head start with it and I'll post work in progress/etc. here's hoping i can do it justice.

Thank you White Falcon, the wood used is European oak, and for the feet, tops and overlays European beech. Glued on a couple of leather 'washers' on the side receivers and I gave it a little more danish oil this morning and hoping, if the light is good enough with the bad weather, to take a couple of nice pics of it all fitted together holding a bow which I will post.

Incredibly beautiful, RD. The clear finish really sets off the carving and wood well.

Thank you very much Pat B, the finish I used is a refined danish oil, which i apply and work into the grain with  1" & 1/2" soft badger hair brushes, it is a fair bit thinner than regular danish oil, after each coat is dry I buff with a paint brush and soft cloth, and prior to the final coat/coats I rub down and dull up (following the direction of the grain,) with a washing up sponge pad with the one side green plastic 'wool' before I apply it.
I really appreciate the positive feedback, I'm feeling rather stoked to get numerous projects completed over the spring and summer.

I was thinking about you when I was playing with carving my mushrooms. Gotta admit I think I could really get into it.

You are certainly on a whole different level than my mushrooms though.

Thank you Bjrogg, im glad you're enjoying some carving  ,
 Mushrooms would be a  good way to make use of some of my oak off cuts, they'd make great little ornaments  , I'd also like to try carving some simple frog and mice, as well as songbirds, when i find some time.
I do enjoy your life on the farm blog and follow it, very interesting to get a glimpse of a different world to me, I enjoy a little gardening but farming is full on. I just finished pruning back some rose bushes and I'm having a go at making some outdoor bonsai's out of Olive, Japanese red maple, and rosemary, lavender and sage, which, for the most part, I have just root trimmed and repotted. I'm finding it quite addictive.
