What's the consensus on having working limbs with radically different thickness in wood-horn-sinew composite bows?

Is it okay to have one limb thinner than the other if it is +50% shorter than the other?

If i understand your question correctly... you are wondering if it matters that the limbs are different dimensions in either thickness or width and length?   if so then not always, Balanced bows shoot the best as far as feel in the hand and generally in cast.  It dosent really matter so long as the bow is built well and both limbs come to rest at the same time in a balanced return when shooting an arrow.  If they come to rest at the time the Bow will be pretty balanced in the hand.  In an extreme example of this are the umi bows that have a very long top limb.  Most of the bows I make are assymetrical with the top limb generally an 1' or more longer then the bottom.  hopefully that makes sense.
