Sinew backed yew recurve
« on: March 06, 2023, 11:23:06 pm »
I'm new to posting here, but have lurked for years. I have learned so much from you all. I'm about finished with a bow I'm building for a good friend. It's pacific yew, 60" n2n, 53#@26, sinew and rattlesnake backed. It's still awaiting more finish coats and a beavertail grip. Very excited about this one and will post more pics once done. Thanks for looking

Love the recurves.  How much sinew did you put on?

Thank you all! I put 3 layers on with hide glue, I didn't weigh it out, I just did my best to keep it even. It was elk back sinew off a spike I was fortunate enough to cross paths with last year.

I missed this one somehow. Lovely bow. I do my sinew jobs the same as you. No weighing of anything, just eyeball it and go.

Well thank you all. Certainly won't be a stranger, I've got another sinew backed yew drying as we speak. This site has been great and has taught me so much thanks to you guys. I love seeing the work you all do
