All bamboo bow to shot arrows and stones
« on: November 16, 2021, 09:02:58 am »
Hi guys!

Yeah...  Go easy on me again. But I did that.
I made an all bamboo bow ( a penobscot pellet bow) to use with stone and arrows.
Hope you like.

I just read of a type of bow used by some Pacific islanders to lanch fire balls during a ceremony to chase away illnesses.
They used a captive arrow that fitted through a hole in the center of the bow. The arrow had a stop collar to keep it from flying away with the fire ball which was placed on the tip.

Very nice bow and video Elisonj  :OK

if you dont mind I'll link this post to the pellet bows post for future reference

As far as pellets shooting I found that a lower poundage (<25) and a higher brace are really more forgiving for hand shots
even at lower poundage the pellet retains a pretty darn brute force

So what's the best technique for shooting stones from a bow? Let the bow twist in your hand, rather than a rigid?

Off set string favoring the outside?

what works for me is wrist twist and having the bow pulled partially sideway from the start ( this is where low poundage comes in handy).
I learned  by trials and errors so I'm sure there are better techniques
Also how you pinch the pellets greatly influences the shot quality
with low pundage bows you can pinch between  thumb and forefinger.
With heavier bows you have to use more fingers but I still have to figure what is the best grip

when you start you can also shot with bow almost horizonthal and let the bow drop as you shoot. Pellet will pass over the bow. It's pretty safe but also less precise

Boy , I don't know. I have shot a lot of stones when I was younger, but with a sling shot not a bow. Looks like their could be an accident waiting to happen to me. Careful.
