Dying hunting shirt with walnuts

I made this video about dying with black walnuts. I am no expert at the process but it may be of interest to some.

that's cool
you could apply a sort of camo pattern (branches and leaves) with a brush using the same walnut dye more concentrated.
If you want to preserve the walnut dye I suggest you to add some vinegar. When I made it the dye developed mold quite quickly (maybe it was not concentrated enough)

Interesting. I've read about Robert Rogers and his Rangers wearing green buckskins, and I wonder what they used to dye them.

Nice job Brian, I have a big pan just like that one.
I did a white wool sweater that I knew i would never wear and it turned out great, more of a grey ish than brown but love the look.

Possibly verdigris, if I remember correctly, it was used aa lot in that period.

I would think some vinegar in the boiling pot would help set the color.
