The few small chrysals just above the fede on the top limb of my bow tell me so... LOL

Not really, If I get through this with no issues I'll probably be an official amature. :D
I'll post the results in BOM for every one to judge.

also, i should mention. the limb that i said has a good bit of reflex in it is actually more R/D than just straight reflex so i might take a crack at a R/D bow. What do i got to lose compared to the knowledge I could gain?

Thanks Gut... I think I got it bending too much there at the beginning and damaged the wood in that area... Now, even if it's bending like I think it should, it kept those little chrysals. they don't seem to get bigger tho, even if I excercised the bow 40-50 times on the tiller before going to remove even 5-10 scrapes of wood. here's a pic for reference... I think I won't touch that area anymore, just to be sure it does not get worse.

A bow with frets won't last for nearly as long as a sound bow, but if the back is ok it should shoot until you can make a better bow.  My first serious bow (red oak board bow, dimensions from the back of TBB IV) had two bad frets by the center, but it lasted a long time.  It did pop a splinter on the edge near the frets, but it was nothing TB II and braided dacron couldn't fix.

Russell, did you get your signature phrase from the Rangers Apprentice books?

tradcraftsman: I know it won't last very long, i just hope next time I'll get the tiller right from the start. I have 7 staves already but they need to season (I cut them 2 months ago). 6 are BL and one is European hornbeam.

Deerhunt, I use a compass and as I go I find the thinnest side and mark a line at that depth on the thick side. It helps me keep the sides even especially if the growth rings don't feather down the center

I read through them a few times years ago before I moved on to Lord of the Rings and other such books.  They got me back into bows, and were fun adventures, but the story just drags out, and some of the heroes are a little shady IMO.

I hope to get the ash back on the tree tomorrow.

I think I just found another problem! I wanted my bow to reach 28" of draw without flipping the tips, but it's 63" long ntn and has 8" stiff handle and fades section... It's still possibile to reach my goal or should I aim for a shorter draw lenght?
