Should I be worried about this crack? I’m worried it might be delamination or something

As a rookie bowyer, but an experienced engineer and wood worker I would wick thin CA glue into that, followed by medium and some sawdust if there is a gap to fill. Delamination is between layers parallel to the back and belly, this looks like a crack that is vertical between the back and belly unless I misinterpreted the picture?

thats the side of the bow, it just follows a early wood ring.

Osage?  A lot of people don't seem to like those types of cracks in that wood. They seem to act like a lamination glue separation.

how bad on a scale of "Keep an eye on it" to "your bows toast"

  haha that donut cracks me up. looks like a nice bit of wood there badly bent, is 1" not enough depth for a stiff handle with osage?

delamination is a death sentence for me. Ive put glue in them and held before but never shot enough to prove. They usually extend into to wood far.

ugh, ok. tomorrow ill scrape it till the delams gone. if its deep, leave it or scrape it, either way is a death sentence. if its not deep ill just reduce the limbs to the width it stops at.

In that case it is much worse. I would still try to wick thin CA into it, but a delamination like that is likely never going to stop opening up as the bow is worked unless you can remove enough material to get rid of it before moving on.

I took my bow off the form today and was happy with how it looked and lined up.  I started to cut some horn for tip overlays but got side tracked with setting coyote and coon traps.

I sure hope Marshall works out this year.
