Boo Backed ELB

This Bamboo Backed ELB was made out of an old piece of Osage we hauled out of Pappy's hay barn where it sat for 14-16yrs. Was a large twisted log complete with plenty wood borers. After splitting and belly splitting some more I recovered a piece with only a few borer tunnels. Wood was very light and snappy. Just a really efficient shooting ELB and fantastic shooting one. With a handful of arrows it groups well to 60yds. Elk hide grip and a beaver tail strike plate.
Had it out and shooting at 50yds with a tillering string without nocks sets and it was fun shooting off back of hand with 600grn arrows.

Nice flat unstrung pic, looks great. Elb horn tips always add the look of some extra craftmanship imho, very nice.

Very nice bow, Shawn and great save from a twisty, wormy stave.
The first time I came to Twin Oaks, Greg brought me down to the hay barn and I was blown away by all the osage and hickory ricked up there. I guess most of that has been used up by now.

Very nice HH . Those profiles say it all. Beautiful. As for the shooting. I'm pretty sure you can make anything shoot good sir, but I'm guessing that one is better than most.

Yes Pat, The Wood Boogers used it up to be sure. Most is gone through last year and either used or in fire to anneal knife steel.
Yes BJ , this one shoots well. I saw Pappy shoot it at fifty yards and lay em right on target with 600grn arrows.

Great bow!
I like how you made the stringing grooves, because they don't look like stringing grooves. Also the transition from the boo node to the horn looks cool. But I don't like the transition of the other nock.
Looks somehow unfinished,....just my 2 cents.

Cool bow.
As Marc says not exactly what we would call an elb here in England but who cares. If you make another try to make the tiller more elliptical. You will get a wisper quiet, completely shock free do if you get the mid to outer limbs bending more, you also avoid the mid limb set.
