Whitetail thigh bone?

What do you use the thigh bones for when snapping? I'm not having much success w'em.

I use them for fish hooks, needles small daggers etc. I always found them too brittle for knapping.

I don't know where I got the idea they would knap stone....seems like they ought to buy maybe not.
