"Deep Purple" horsebow

One of my latest ventures which i've dedicated the last 6 months to is learning horseback archery. So i figured a bow with a similar profile, yet constructed from mostly natural materials would be cool.

Limbs are bamboo. I backed them with rawhide and silk for added resilience, also to experiment how the different materials adhere to each other. I really like the deep purple silk, and added some diamond back rattler for asthetics. 33#@26.5”.

Full draw pic.  Was loosing to much weight to go any further, good enough.  A couple pics from practice sessions with a boo/glass bow on horseback.  Tomorrow's practice i test out my version.

Now you just need a herd of buffalo. That's a full draw picture we don't see everyday. Nicely done

PS I still don't feel totally comfortable shooting from a tree stand. Pretty sure I'd struggle a bit from a galloping horse.

Very nice bow. I've wondered about something like that myself. Is that a safety harness you're wearing in the horsey pictures?

 There are some straps around his thighs and going up to his waist.

Quiver.   I don't think anyone wants to be strapped onto a horse.

True,  but a helmet and footwear with heels would likely be their first demand.

Pat M why don,t you give him an atta boy like Brogg did. Thread is not about a breast plate . Then critique his bow like you critiqued mine on leather wall.Ghetto wrapping, not enough reflex,to much mass weight out on the end etc,etc.etc..Nice bow you made their.I have made a few of them,and I know the work that goes into them.Made some from bamboo slats for backing and bamboo floor boards for belly wood ,and maple risers, and maple siyahs. Have fun with that one on horseback.Well done.
