"Devil Stick"
« on: July 13, 2018, 01:02:12 pm »
A fitting name for a bow posted on Friday 13th i reckon.  Purely unintentional, but it did cause me to chuckle a bit.

Osage backed with sinew and rawhide.  Yall might have noticed i have a thing for this combo:) I burned in the decorative dots around the wood and then continued them around onto the rawhide using ink so as not to disturb the backing.  Buffalo horn was used for the nocks and arrow rest.  Outter limbs are reflexed and dont bend much, making it pretty snappy at 38# @ 24.5".

One thing i learned from this bow is that sometimes they prefer to be shot "upside down" from what i expected and how i built it.  I resisted this at first, but kept re-testing and came up with the same results. Less hand shock and more accurate. Finally i decided...who am i to argue with the bow. (-S

Ok, about these sideways and upside down pics. I go into the program on my computer and rotate them, save them, and they still dont post right.  In the future not even gonna waste time trying.  This is why i build bows and hate computers lol.  I know its distracting to the eye but hopefully its good enough for everyone.

Very nice. My son was asking how he can decorate his bow. I will be showing him this one for ideas!

Cool bow - fd-pic is slightly difficult to read but brace looks great and regarding the finish work and design one must say that the name is the program - i'd got a lack of patience (edit: & skills) for that! Congrats and thanx for the presentation! «to solve the picture problem just hold the cam upside up/down  8)) cheers
