 Living in South Carolina, I must say I have zero experience with drying or cutting OS...But I can say it is one super wood ! I have made 5 bendy bows from OS...Wish it grew here Bryce...Your staves are top notch...I give OS an A on compression and tension so far with my limited experience...Dried in reflex has held without heat tempering...!

The only downside is sometimes those pin knots will quit on yah :/

I often wonder how great a bow you could make if you could find an OS stave with no pins. Every OS bow save one that has failed for me failed at a pin. That one exploded like Yew.

as someone else said- leave them alive until winter. They have less tendency to split.
