Mahogany Point
« on: March 12, 2018, 10:31:20 am »
It's been awhile since I knapped anything. Figured it was time to knock some of the dust off and draw a little blood. Nothing extra special but I did come up with a good weight hunting point.

It's ok Bill all my blood work came back ok. Nothing contagious.

Yes Hawkdancer  good to knock one out again. This isn't really like riding a bicycle for me. I could fall at any time. Really need to get my head in the right place for this.

Looks like a killer, Brian, take out that little flat spot mid way to make it really sharp.

Very nice, the obsidian colors are truly beautiful and can be ornamental points or deadly points. Great color on that point.

Thanks Chip, Redhand, Joe and Rob
Thanks Zuma your making me blush. I guess I just grew up with everyone around here fixing up old junk and making something to get the job done. Wasn't always pretty but that really didn't matter. I'm still humbled by what these old timers around here did with the little they had and a sixth grade education. There education didn't begin or end with school. They passed on many very useful skills. They had a good useful knowledge of so many things.
Thanks Eddie I do real good with this Obsidian until I try to pressure flake a sharp edge. It's hard for me to keep edge strong enough to run flakes then.
Thanks Bronco, and the color camouflages your blood real well to.

BJ try using a less abrasive abrader. I like a 80--100 grit sanding belt. :KN :KN

Brian, try running your flakes diagonal down the blade when you get to that point. Like stitching with a fine flaker.
