Hunting pal cats
« on: October 16, 2017, 08:10:45 am »
I've got cats here that follow me to my stands. They settle in and sit on the ground off to the side and get comfortable. They do warn me to a degree when deer are coming by moving off.The deer don't mind them a bit.

Interesting Ed. I have a group of turkeys that whenever they show up just minutes later 3 bucks are close behind.

Aaron...I'd say that's putting it mildly. We've got close to 30 cats running around here. Can't give them away fast enough....lol.They do take care of the mice though too.

From reading and experience deer seem to trust other wildlife, especially turkeys. If other animals seem to think its safe, the deer are likely to as well. I have heard of using a turkey call during deer hunts just to give deer a false sense of security.

I have trail camera pictures with fox and deer together. Also turkeys and deer and raccoons and deer.
When hunting fox or coyotes many times I've been able to know where they were from the crows that follow them. I've heard it said not every crow has a coyote but every coyote has a crow.

I have always wondered about putting up "confidence decoys" like a turkey under a treestand.
