New Bow From Old Osage
« on: April 27, 2017, 07:58:50 am »
Haven't posted any bows in a while but, I just finished a nice little bow from a somewhat challenging stave that o received as a gift from Gary Davis.  He had it lying around since the nineties and maybe just never got the gumption to finish it.   The stave was from a small diameter Osage where the bark over the years, eventually fell off.  I used it as the back.  It resembles a limb bow in a way.

In its blank form, it had an S-curve profile that I did straighten a bit with dry heat but otherwise, I didn't induce any reflex as it had plenty of natural, consistent reflex of its own.  The 62" bow achieved my intended 45# draw weight at my 26" draw.  I thought the bow bad it's own natural beauty so I didn't skin it or paint on it any.  I don't have any pics, except for one.  No full draw or strung pics yet.  I'll try to get some on later.  I'm too busy prepping for Tennessee so maybe I'll get someone to take a few pics for me there.

This pic does no justice to the bow.  It's a bow that I'm real tickled with and look forward to making meat with it.

We see too few of your bows. Look forward to more pics of this one.

Good looker, Matt. Cant wait to check it out at Marshall. If you are that excited about it, it must be a winner.

Looks like some cool character in that bow for sure Matt, I'll be wanting to see that one up close next week. If its anything like that other osage limb bow of your making that I saw a couple years ago I know I'll like it.
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.
